Purpose of the Role
This
consultancy is part of a broader effort to transform education outcomes in
Sierra Leone through innovative financing and strategic partnerships.
The
consultant will support key initiatives such as:
- The Sierra
Leone Education Innovation Challenge (SLEIC)
- The Salone
Pikin 4 Play en Lan (SPPL) programme
These
programmes aim to improve foundational learning and expand access to quality
early childhood education.
The
role focuses on ensuring that lessons learned from these initiatives are
effectively translated into sustainable, government-led reforms within the
education sector.
Key Responsibilities
The
selected consultant will:
- Collaborate
with government stakeholders to identify priority areas in the education
system
- Develop and
support a structured learning agenda aligned with national goals
- Translate
research and programme data into actionable policy recommendations
- Strengthen
sustainability strategies for ongoing and future education programmes
- Facilitate
coordination among development partners and donors
- Support the
integration of innovative financing mechanisms into government systems
Required Qualifications and Experience
Applicants
should meet the following criteria:
- A
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Economics, Public Policy, International
Development, or a related field
- A minimum
of eight years of relevant professional experience
- Proven
experience working with the Government of Sierra Leone and strong
institutional networks
- Strong
analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to
engage effectively with senior stakeholders and facilitate policy dialogue
Preferred qualifications include:
- A Master’s
degree in a relevant field
- Experience
in education system strengthening or results-based financing
- Experience
working in Sub-Saharan Africa or similar contexts
