How I Monetize My Blog as a Sierra Leonean

In my journey as a blogger, I faced numerous challenges along the way, but one of the most significant milestones was monetizing my blog through AdSense. After submitting my application and facing two rejections, I was finally accepted into the program in 2021. However, my journey wasn’t smooth sailing; I encountered several obstacles that led to my monetization being suspended. Thankfully, I was able to resolve those issues and learn valuable lessons in the process.

Address Verification for Payment

Once I was approved for AdSense, the next step was to reach the payment threshold. After achieving this, I needed to verify my address to receive payments. I entered my Sierra Leonean address into the AdSense dashboard and awaited my verification letter. To my relief, the letter was sent via SalPost, a local postal service. When the letter arrived, it contained a unique verification code that was crucial for completing the verification process. This step was vital, as it confirmed my identity and allowed me to move forward with receiving payments.

Payment Method Setting

Setting up my payment method was another important task. I opted to use my Guarantee Trust Bank account for receiving payments, which turned out to be an effective and reliable choice. The process was straightforward; I linked my bank account to my AdSense account, ensuring I met all the necessary requirements for money transfers. Having a dependable payment method contributed significantly to my overall blogging experience.

My First Payment

The moment I received my first payment, it felt like a dream come true. I was ecstatic when I saw that I had been paid $85 for my efforts. It was a validation of the countless hours I had spent creating content for my blog. This initial payment lit a fire in me, motivating me to keep pushing forward. Since that first achievement, my earnings have continued to grow, surpassing that initial amount consistently as I refined my blogging strategies.

Advice to Bloggers

To fellow bloggers, my primary advice is to take that leap and never settle for less. The online world offers immense opportunities, and it truly can pay off if you approach it with patience and perseverance. Keep honing your craft, learn from mistakes, and don’t be discouraged by setbacks. With determination and the right mindset, success is within reach.
