As the British say (with
their delightful wit), there are three ways to get rich in life.
Option One: Be born into a rich family.
Unfortunately, I missed
the memo on that one. There wasn’t exactly a "golden spoon" waiting
for me when I entered the world!
Option Two: Win the lottery.
Tried it. Not a single
lucky number in sight. But hey, I did get a free ticket once, so there’s that.
And then, Option Three: Hang out with rich people.
Now, this is where things
get interesting. Why? Because it hints at a larger truth that applies to much
more than just wealth: the company you keep matters.
Ever heard the phrase,
"You’re the average of the five
people you spend the most time with"? Well, there's some wisdom in
that. If you want to grow, be it financially, emotionally, or intellectually,
it’s crucial to surround yourself with people who are a little ahead of where
you are. People who push you to be better. People who inspire you to aim
higher. Or as the saying goes, people who’ll lift you up rather than pull you
back into the swamp.
But here’s the thing – the swamp isn’t always full of bad people. Sometimes, it's filled with people who, though well-meaning, aren't on the same journey as you. Maybe they're content where they are, and that's okay. But if you’re hungry for change and growth, you need to seek out those who share that hunger. You know, the kind of folks who motivate you to reach your full potential—be it through financial freedom, personal growth, or just being better at what you love.
It’s Not Just About Money
Let’s be real here:
wealth doesn’t have to mean just money. Some of the “richest” people I know are
those who have mastered the art of living a happy and balanced life. They may
not have millions in the bank, but they’ve got a wealth of knowledge,
experience, and a mindset that screams success.
So, if your goal is to
build a meaningful, enriching life, find people who are already living it. Be
it through financial mentorship, personal growth, or even just great
conversations – seek out those who light your fire.
So, What's Next?
You may not have been
born into wealth, and the lottery numbers may never go your way, but that’s
okay. Instead, look for opportunities to connect with people who inspire and
challenge you. Because when you're around people who constantly raise the bar,
you’ll find yourself leveling up in ways you never thought possible.
